Have you ever been on an art hike? Presented in Partnership with the Palisades Parks Conservancy, join Strawtown artists and naturalists for a healthy hike along the Doodletown Brook in Harriman State Park. We will collect the colors of the forest along the way, then gather at the reservoir to share our findings and practice handwork. We will incorporate our autumn findings with materials like wire, strings, and beads to make a work of art inspired by the place. Afterwards, participants will be led back down the trail.
IMPORTANT: This is an intermediate/advanced hike, with uphill, rocky and steep areas. Recommended for children 6+ with parents/caregiver. Wear layers for the variable weather, sturdy footwear for hiking, and bring a backpack, water bottle and lunch. Clothing and footwear should be appropriate for studio art (ie: clothing/ shoes/ outerwear that may get wet, dirty or stained).
